Lola Gaying was my very own personal tutor and teacher. She taught us things teachers in school were just beginning to teach, and she taught them with the care of a grandmother. From her, I really learned the value of words. She played Scrabble all the time, did crossword puzzles, read books and the newspaper, and taught me how to write in cursive. From her, I learned the value of education, of knowledge, of curiosity and learning. She was our teacher of many things, and I know I'm only one of dozens that she shared her love of knowledge with.
